How to install PHPMYADMIN for mysql database

After installing Apache (Web server) and mysql (database server) on your Linux system…

Download the compatible version of phpmyadmin from “http://www.phpmyadmin.net”

Extract the file into you web server directory (where you website files will be stored) example in
centos /var/www/html/
opensuse /srv/www/htdocs

after extracting the file you will find the one file config.sample.inc.php

rename that file to config.inc.php

edit config.inc.php using pico, nano, vi, vim etc..

do the changes menstioned below

on this line

$cfg[‘blowfish_secret’] = ”; /* YOU MUST FILL IN THIS FOR COOKIE AUTH! */

Add “anything” in the empty field.

$cfg[‘blowfish_secret’] = ‘anything’; /* YOU MUST FILL IN THIS FOR COOKIE AUTH! */

on
/* Server parameters */
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘host’] = ‘localhost’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘connect_type’] = ‘tcp’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘compress’] = false;
/* Select mysqli if your server has it */
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘extension’] = ‘mysql’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘AllowNoPassword’] = false;

add two more lines…

/* Server parameters */
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘host’] = ‘localhost’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘user’] = ‘root’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘password’] = ”;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘connect_type’] = ‘tcp’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘compress’] = false;
/* Select mysqli if your server has it */
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘extension’] = ‘mysql’;
$cfg[‘Servers’][$i][‘AllowNoPassword’] = false;

Now restart your webserver and browse the website.

It will ask for username and password

provide the user name and password of you database,… you will be ready exploring you database…
